The Diary: Gentleman’s Journal and Church’s host live Rugby World Cup podcast
In the Church’s showroom on Old Bond Street, Gentleman’s Journal Editor Joseph Bullmore interviewed three icons of the modern game
Footwear and rugby don’t always see eye to eye, as five minutes among the dog-eared boat shoes in the Twickenham debentures will tell you. But on Tuesday night, at least, the two art forms were in perfect harmony.
Up above the rooftops of Mayfair, Gentleman’s Journal teamed up with esteemed Northampton shoemaker Church’s to host three icons of the modern game in a live panel discussion. Dylan Hartley, the most capped hooker in England history, was joined by Kiwi two-time World Cup winner Ben Franks and U20s World Cup winning captain Harry Mallinder in a lively conversation about life at the top of the game.
Led by Editor Joseph Bullmore, the Northampton Saints players spoke to the gathered crowd of Gentleman’s Journal Clubhouse members about their first rugby memories, their greatest style disasters and their predictions for the imminent World Cup in Japan.
