About Last Night… The Cartier Racing Awards at The Dorchester Hotel
The 28th year of the definitive European racing awards were celebrated in style with the great and the good of the horseracing world
Each year, the best horses and trainers are applauded and rewarded for their tireless effort throughout the season. Last night, the best of the European racing world came together in the ballroom of The Dorchester to see which colts and fillies would bring home the coveted prizes.
Before the winners were announced, the esteemed guests — including the likes of Laurent Feniou, Managing Director of Cartier UK, Patrick Grant, British fashion designer and famous composer Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber — tucked into a traditionally British feast including Dorset crab and Hereford beef.
And, while many of the horses who won are stars in their own right, trainer John Gosden — whose horses took home five out of the eight accolades — was arguably the man of the evening, coming in furlongs ahead of his competition.
The Horse of the Year, trained by who else but Gosden, was three-year-old colt Roaring Lion, who was also awarded the top prize in his age category. See below for pictures from the event.
