On Wednesday evening, Gentleman’s Journal, along with a string of its closest friends, celebrated not only the launch of its latest issue, but also the start of summer. With the weather finally – or, at least, hopefully – turning away from the past months of grey and drizzle and towards some weeks of good climes, guests made their way to the finely heeled streets of Knightsbridge, where they were welcomed to The Loggia room, at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London.
Within the elegant space, all chandeliers and gilded, crisp accents, and with direct access to the hotel’s lovely garden, there was a colourful spread featuring the likes of Parmesan tacos with guacamole, semi-dried tomato and crispy shallots; fish and crisps, with tartare sauce; and buttermilk fried chicken, with kimchi mayonnaise. Meanwhile, a selection of libations, courtesy of No.3 Gin, Dash Water and Double Dutch, kept the spirits high among a crowd that included Jonah Hauer-King, Lawrence Van Hagen, Cyrill Ibrahim and Oliver Proudlock.
Featuring cover star Anderson .Paak, the pages of our latest issue also see us talk to Sheyi Cole, the namedrop to know about; go through the muddled history of the French 75; showcase our Grooming Awards, in order to keep everything feeling fresh and clean during the months ahead; celebrate Loro Piana’s 100th birthday; and more, which you can find out about here…
