Are these the most considerate grooming kits to gift this Christmas?
This year, Gentleman’s Journal is turning to Heath, whose trio of sets covers a range of needs and price points and, most importantly, injects a sense of wellbeing into the receiver’s everyday routine
Although the downcast weather may suggest otherwise, we’re finally closing in on what is widely accepted as the most wonderful time of the year. But, before the few days of bacchanalian-style feasting, evenings of ripping-hot log fires and days away from the desk can truly begin, there’s some heavy lifting – namely, the gift-buying – that needs to be done first.
Typically, there are two defaults one often falls on in this department: going big (perhaps an item of clothing that stretches the Amex limit) or going cliché (graphic socks, bargain-basement underwear). And, although we often approve of the former – and definitely encourage you to circumvent the latter – we, on the whole, find that a safe route is to select smaller items imbued with meaning and consideration. A set of grooming items – products that will help one reset following a year of relentless work deadlines and late evenings – for example, certainly falls into that category.
When tackling this area, it’s fairly imperative to take empathy and consideration into mind, as bathroom-shelf essentials are fairly important to how the wearer is viewed by the world. For this, we often consider Heath, the British grooming label whose slew of products doesn’t solely focus on cleansing, hydrating and reviving complexions – a given for any respectable brand in the game – but, more importantly, emphasises that its creations, made using a fuss-free blend of natural and active ingredients, are meant to inject a sense of ritual, calm and, ultimately, wellbeing into its users’ everyday routine.
For the coming period, along with its already comprehensive offerings of serums and slicks, Heath is proffering a trio of sets, each of which targets a specific grooming need and covers a different price point, ideal if you’re seeking either a bigger gift or something better suited as a stocking filler.
First, we start up top with the The Facial Routine Kit, a comprehensive four-piece ensemble that aims to fully revive one’s appearance. Inside the bottle-green vegan washbag in which it arrives is a Face Wash, which is laced with ingredients, such as Brazilian-papaya extract and black lava, that cleanse and clarify; a Moisturiser, made with hyaluronic acid (a natural substance that helps retain moisture and, ultimately, creates a plump look) and Soliberine NAT® (an active ingredient that is said to protect against harmful blue light); and an Eye Serum, whose formula, which includes Persian-silk-tree extract, aims to reverse the fatigue caused by too many late nights at the office. Rounding things out in this set is a Shower Mask, an item that's to be applied while the shower is heating up, exfoliates and removes dull and dead skin, and almost instantly leaves one with a more polished look.
For something that leans more towards stocking-filler-size – but is no less considerate – there’s The Face Set, a hard-working selection containing Heath’s Face Wash and Moisturiser, two of the brand’s most essential hero items and ones that are best suited for those with either regular or sensitive skin.
Then, there’s the Hair + Body Wash Collection, whose key draw is its mood-boosting properties as it’ll either set the tone for the day by waking and shaking one up in the morning, or facilitate one to reset, wind down and feel a sense of stillness before sleep. Within, there’s a trio of washes, each with different aims: the Revitalise Hair + Body Wash aims to uplift and energise with its punchy, citrus-forward body of lemon, grapefruit and bergamot; the Rescue Hair + Body Wash (eucalyptus, juniper berry, pine needle) clears the head and decongests; meanwhile, the Relax Hair + Body Wash soothes via a calming mix of essential oils made from elemi, frankincense and cedarwood. As it, too, arrives in a washbag, such items can be carted easily from home to the gym to the weekend away, meaning that the receiver will be able to take their moment of wellbeing wherever they go – a gift that’s difficult to put a price on.
