Man of (Stainless) Steel: Henry Cavill joins the Longines team

One of Hollywood’s most bankable figures – known for his evergreen charm and contemporary sensibilities – links up with the watch label as its ‘Ambassador of Elegance’

In its most recent move, Swiss watch legend Longines has brought on Henry Cavill as its ‘Ambassador of Elegance’. The actor, famed for his roles in Man of Steel and The Witcher, isn’t solely known for his big-screen presence, but is also esteemed for his penchant for timeless tailoring, his Debrett’s-worthy etiquette and gentle manner, and, to much fanfare, his ability to geek-out over aviation and Warhammer – what one can essentially label as good-guy traits. As such, as someone of both evergreen charm and contemporary sensibilities, he was seen as the perfect fit for Longines. ‘This partnership represents Longines’s legacy of collaborating with individuals who exemplify true elegance in both their professional excellence and personal conduct,’ stated the label.

Longines’s CEO, Matthias Breschan, also added: “In Henry, we recognise a real affinity with our brand’s values. His sophistication, genuine warmth and multifaceted personality reflect what elegance means today. Whether commanding the screen in epic productions or sharing his passions for aviation and equestrianism, he maintains an authenticity and grace that makes him a clear embodiment of the Longines spirit.”

The feeling, of course, is mutual, with Cavill declaring: “What draws me to Longines is their understated elegance. True quality doesn’t need to announce itself. It’s evident in every detail and in every action. This is a philosophy, backed by generations of precision craftsmanship and artistry, that resonates deeply with my own values.”

Cavill first came to global attention when he played Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel, and has gone on to become a staple, bankable name in an industry of ever-revolving talent. In 2024, he appeared in Argylle, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, and Deadpool & Wolverine – and is currently filming the sci-fi Voltron, a live-action adaptation of the animated series. With a schedule chock-full of production, it’s lucky that the Brit has a few new timepieces that’ll keep him on track.
