Just in time for the better-weather days ahead, Richard Mille, the luxury watchmaker whose creations are prized for their perimeter-pushing, statement designs, has dropped two additions to its RM 65-01 collection. Already available in the likes of red-gold and carbon TPT, and titanium, the range is seen as the most complex and intricate within the label’s stable, due largely to the fact it features the calibre RMAC4, which comprises roughly 600 parts.

The new designs come in pastel-blue quartz TPT – a colourway that the brand says evokes ‘azure skies’ – and a dark-yellow quartz TPT – intended to bring to mind ‘the fiery celestial orb’ – with the latter arriving in a limited run of 120. On the dials, different functions and features correspond to a specific colour, not only allowing for clear legibility, but also offering even more vibrancy to the overall look.

In terms of technical specs, the calibre is made with a six-column wheel, and the movement oscillates at 36,000 vibrations an hour. There’s a 60-hour power reserve, too, and a nifty function selector on the crown allows the wearer to move easily and smoothly between traditional winding mode and setting either the semi-instantaneous date or the hours and minutes – the result of which shows, once again, how the disruptive venture has brought together punchy visuals with envelope-pushing intricacies.
