Its 17 rooms and suites are lovingly furnished with restored antiques and original paintings. Meanwhile, its first-class (and highly in-demand) restaurant showcases the fresh, seasonal produce from the hotel’s walled kitchen garden, through dishes such as duck with forced rhubarb and chicory, and Trenchmore beef tartare, morel and alliums.
Gravetye’s garden, created by William Robinson in the 1880s, is now considered one of the most important historic gardens in England, so take your time exploring the meadows, orchards and flower gardens. From there, it’s a short scenic drive to the Nyetimber Estate, where the lucky winner and their guest will enjoy a tasting of Nyetimber’s finest sparkling wines and receive an extensive tour through some of the country’s oldest vineyards, which is guaranteed to instill in you a newfound appreciation of England’s homegrown sparkling wine industry.
