If you’re the type who likes nothing better than taking to the rolling hills in high stretch fabrics and putting pedal to the metal, our recent Race To Bicester Village will be right up your street.
Two teams, including Olympian Alex Gregory and adventurers Sean Conway and Ross Turner, valiantly accepted our April challenge of cycling from London to Bicester Village, on a route specially designed by Rapha.
And although the pictures from the day suggest an idyllic cycle ride through the Chilterns – with both teams not so much sweating as positively glowing as they gleefully glided from Rapha’s flagship store on Brewer St to Soho Farmshop – looks can be deceiving…
It was a grueling 120-kilometre race through wind, rain and plenty of mud, with our riders facing no fewer than 15 punctures along the way.
But as Churchill himself once said, “no hour of life is lost that is spent in the saddle” and, as our heroic racers crossed the line, the smiles on their faces suggested there’d be many more hours to come. Fortunately, it wasn’t going to be that night.
GoPro provided our riders with the latest HERO7 so they could capture the day’s action along the way. Take a look at our behind-the-scenes video above to see the view from the road.
