There is nothing quite so iconic as Paul Smith’s stripe motif – except perhaps Paul Smith himself. With his silvered hair, Midlands brogue and signature style, Smith has dedicated his life to the world of fashion – showing his first menswear collection in Paris in 1976, and growing his eclectic range ever since.
In 1998, Smith opened his UK flagship store on Westbourne Grove, and he remains there to this day, where Gentleman’s Journal commonly catch up with the designer to be regaled by his wit and wisdom. Recently, we walked and talked with Smith through the West London neighbourhood, past the colourful houses and boutique stores, and committed some of his entrepreneurial advice to camera.
So, if you want to know the most vital lessons Smith has ever learnt, what advice he would give aspiring entrepreneurs, or just what makes the iconic designer tick, then watch above.
