Why you need Sir Plus’ new collection in your spring wardrobe

And the label’s new spring collection remains true to the brand ethos. Once again inspired by rugged workwear, Sir Plus’ latest range combines timeless designs with utilitarian fabrics and relaxed silhouettes, and this is evident in the Mandarin jacket – one of the season’s standout pieces. Crafted in England, but inspired by traditional Chinese workwear, it consists of either surplus cotton seersucker or navy velvet, comes in a roomy fit that allows for ease of movement and incorporates details – such as the hang-made frog knot buttons or the hidden-entry pockets – that add subtle hits of finesse.
Another of the collection’s hero pieces – the new Cuban shirt – also further emphasises Sir Plus’ knack for sourcing quality leftover fabrics. Each style of shirt is made from a different printed surplus cotton – Hawaiian, geometric paisley, white jacquard and plain navy – and is only available in limited numbers.
However, just because the collection sticks to the same winning formula that’s made Sir Plus a go-to in the world of menswear, that doesn’t mean innovation hasn’t taken place. Notably, the brand’s signature style, the Nehru jacket, has been revamped to appear more like a chore jacket, and is now available in an unlined version in either a sturdy cotton twill or linen-cotton blend. But traditionalists, fret not, for the classic Nehru design is still available and comes in linen finishes – the ideal item to wear for a summer wedding or for everyday use.
